Investigating Apprenticeship Completion in Canada

  |  in Apprenticeship Models, Forecasts &Training Policy Analysis

Prism undertook this research for the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum (CAF) in order to develop a clearer understanding of the factors impacting apprenticeship completion and what can be done to potentially help apprentices complete their programs. The statistical evidence indicates that there is no clear reason for non-completion, therefore this study sought to engage stakeholders in a discussion about completion. The study included six discussion groups taking place across Canada. Conclusions were organized around three main headings: employer-specific factors related to labour market and workplace conditions, apprentice specific factors related to personal barriers and experience and system-based conditions and barriers.
